Week beginning 16th November – Weather
From the tropical equator to the frozen world of the poles. Learn about seasonality, weather and how it affects wildlife. Have a go at measuring the speed of the wind with anemometers and estimate the frequency of the waves.
Week beginning 23rd November – Charismatic Megafauna
What is a Marine Protection Area? How caring about your favourite animal might help protect whole ecosystems! Manta rays, sharks, whales – these charismatic animals can help us conserve and protect much more than just themselves!
Week beginning 30th November – Adaptations to Intertidal Life
How plants and animals have adapted in order to survive in the intertidal zone.
Week beginning 7th December – Marine Mammals
What makes a mammal? Learn more about one of our closest relatives from the sea!
Week beginning 14th December – The Frozen World
Marine Christmas Special! The fascinating life of the remote Arctic and Antarctic. How animals have evolved to adapt to the challenging conditions and freezing temperatures.
Sessions are one hour long and based in our marine classroom and on the beach.
Who is it for
Marine Explorers is aimed at primary school age children (4-11), but please get in touch if you would like to enquire about a different age range, or even an adults only group.
All under 18s must be accompanied by an adult throughout the activity, who must book a place for themselves.
We want you to feel safe during this session and we have taken all necessary steps to comply with current government guidelines. Children (under 18) must be accompanied by a participating supervising adult who must take responsibility for ensuring all current social distancing guidelines are followed by the children under their supervision.

Following the announcement of Coronavirus restrictions from 5th November, we can confirm that we are able to continue offering education and training to those who are home educated.
As such, Marine Explorers will continue to run in November and December for home education children only.
Please note that maximum group size is 6 people (adults and children). Supervising adults must book a place for themselves as well as participating children
