Track Cycling

Calshot has the only indoor banked velodrome in the South of England. This national standard track was built in 1997 and can be used by a wide range of cyclists from novices to international standard. As long as you can ride a bike you can have a go under the watchful eye of a coach.

Cycling on Calshot's velodrome couldn’t be easier for either adult or junior riders.

New for this year are our junior courses.

For adults we offer track tasters for the ‘have a go’ first timer and three skills courses offering a steady progression to become a fully confident track rider.

Track Cycling - Stage 1 & 2 Beginner Slipstream

- A quick way to progress from track taster to the improver session
- This is a four hour session combining the stage 1 and 2 sessions.
- Experienced coaches taking you through every step of the way

Age – For adults and those 15 years and over
(15 year olds must be accompanied by an adult)

Track Cycling - Stage 1 Trackstart

- Try it you might like it, before moving onto stage 2.
- Learn how to ride a ‘fixie’ and master this amazing Olympic sport
- Bike, helmet and shoes all provided

Age – For adults and those 14 years and over 
(14–15 years old must be accompanied by an adult).

Track Cycling - Stage 2 Beginner

- You must have completed a Calshot Stage 1 Track Start in the last 12 months

- Progress from our track taster to riding in a group

- We cover the skills required to be safe on the track with other riders

Age – For adults and those 14 years and over
(14 - 15 year olds must be accompanied by an adult)

- For graduates of the beginners course

- Improve your group riding, fitness and manoeuvring skills at a faster pace

- Your riding will be assessed throughout

Age – For adults and those 15 years and over

- Further training for those who wish to ride our track more regularly

- For graduates of the Improver course,

- Complete complex endurance and sprint drills

- Experienced coaches taking you through every step of the way

Track Cycling - Junior Cycle Skills

- A great introduction to this amazing Olympic sport with an emphasis on team work
- Learn how to ride a fixed wheel bike and ride up to the cote d’azure (dependant on the ability of the group)
- Bike, helmet and shoes all provided. Basket pedals on smaller bikes
