Meet one of our instructors in the New Forest for a range of games, activities, tasks and challenges to explore and engage with the natural environment. Sessions may include nature identification, natural history themes and elements of basic map work. You’ll need wellies, waterproofs and warm clothes – we can keep you busy in most weathers!

Location

Sessions running in March are taking place at Blackwater in the New Forest. More information regarding location and meeting points will be given in your email confirmation.

Week beginning 15th March – Homes and Habitats

The Forest provides plenty of different habitats for many creatures and in this session we’ll be investigating these and exploring what makes a house a home…

Week beginning 22nd March – Interesting Invertebrates

This week we'll be discovering more about some of the smallest creatures in the Forest aka minibeasts! We'll be searching for these little critters, and finding out why although small, they have a mighty role to play in our ecosystem.

Who is it for

Forest Explorers sessions are aimed at primary school aged children (4-11) and are 1.5 hours long, plenty of time to find a place to explore.

All under 18s must be accompanied by an adult throughout the activity.

Booking

A place needs to be booked for all participating children only. Supervising adults and children not joining in do not need to book a place. A maximum of one supervising adult is permitted per participating child. We ask that where possible, non-participating children do not attend to help reduce the size of the overall group, however we appreciate this is not always possible.

COVID-19 Message

We want you to feel safe during this session and we have taken all necessary steps to comply with current government guidelines. Children (under 18) must be accompanied by a supervising adult who must take responsibility for ensuring all current social distancing guidelines are followed by the children under their supervision.
