Did you know that Calshot Spit has a 16th Century Tudor castle at its tip?
Tucked away next to the large Sunderland Hangar sits this fascinating piece of local history – a great place to explore and investigate.
Completely based in the Castle, we will run a range of activities and games to bring to life wider historical themes. We will also use the Castle as a setting for other activities such as story-telling and crafts.
The Castle will be fully open to participants and supervising adults and time will be put aside for independent exploring without any additional entry fee.
Sessions will take place in Calshot Castle, located at the end of Calshot Spit. More information about meeting places etc. will be provided upon booking. Please note that Calshot Castle features a spiral staircase with narrow sections and is not suitable for pushchairs.
Who is it for?
These sessions are aimed at primary school aged children (4-11) and are 1.5 hours long.
A place needs to be booked for all participating children only. Supervising adults do not need to book a place but will be required to stay with the children under their supervision during independent exploring time. A maximum of one supervising adult is permitted per participating child. We ask that where possible, non-participating children do not attend to help reduce the size of the overall group, however we appreciate this is not always possible.
Message We want you to feel safe during this session and we have taken all necessary steps to apply with current government guidelines. Children (under 18) must be accompanied by a supervising adult who must take responsibility for ensuring all current social distancing guidelines are followed by the children under their supervision.
